I got some retail therapy yesterday when I found that Clarke's shoes have just started a really good sale with big reductions. I usually have huge problems getting anything to fit, but I was spoilt for choice this time. I finally decided on a pair of red pumps with a stretchy strap across the middle, and a nice thick spongy sole - they look ace with a pair of pale yellow rolled-up chinos or just jeans. And then amazingly I found sandles that make my sad buniony feet look almost normal!!!!! They are very similar shape to Fit-Flops, again with a thick soft sole, but they have a massive leather-petalled flower on top - really comfy as they don't press on any of the tender bits, but stylish too. I won't wear them if I have to walk very far, cos I prefer more support at the sides, but I'm optimistic they'll look good with skirts and dresses. Woo hoo - just what I needed cos this rain is starting to get me down!! Sylvia xx Be kinder than is necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Good on you Sylvia!! Nothing better than a treat! I don't know if I should stick to extra wide shoes in the future, shame, lovely sandals in the sale of a normal fit - just not sure if feet be normal shape in future. I got a pair on line with clarke's they are eee size I think, black velcro sandal with a slight heel. I got them to wear to match my post op velcro hospital show! My feet have out grown (the shape of bunion feet) hotters - they are a lovely leather and comfy shoes, not cheap but normally fit me. I have to wear the hospital velcro shoe until end of july when the pins come out, but the hospital care notes say wear trainer or sandal for 3-6 months after for swelling. The clarks sandal is fine to match height wise with the hospital shoe, I would not wear them out - I need supportive sandals. But I can't find online any soft loose post op loose/relaxed sandal. Anyone have any ideas for extra wide sandal/shoes for me to look online? Cath kidston have sale as well!!! 50% off.........bought my daughter new school bag for September, I got new handbag and purse. I'm enjoying being at home, shop on line without q's and annoying tannoy announcements, noone pouncing on me to swap utility companies!! Anymore sales going on? Enjoy your shoes Sylvia! Jane Xxx

hi Jane,
i'm a huge fan of Flyflot's .. i tend to wear mules as much of the year as i can, not because of RA just that iv'e always had awkward shaped feet and shoes tend to hurt me.
they come in wide fitting with a good spongy anatomic base.
now i've discovered a new range .. funnily enough in my local Garden Centre that has a new mobility shop. they are called Shuropody and have to say they are trendy. the two pairs i bought were on sale about £25.00 each, but they are slightly higher up the foot than just a one bar mule.
one pair is in my favourite colour of raspberry and look really nice with my cropped trousers, also got a pair in a soft olive green and i have to say they are really comfy. i walk with a very heavy limp as i have Osteo in both knee's ( can't walk distance need a wheelchair then )

Hi Suzanne I shall have a look online in a minute thank you. So need to pamper my feet more! I'm amazed that someone, somewhere can come up with ideas that they have tried as well! Been feeling awful the past few days, get to 6pm and I feel cold and tired and stiff, crash out in bed(maybe cold turkey for not buying anything online)! Shall go now to look at your suggestions! Jane Xx

Oh girls - shoes, shoes, shoes (and bags, of course) are my very favourite things!!
Although I can't walk, I bought a pair of silver and diamante Emotion sandals last year with 4" heels and they looked fab with my outfit - even though I was sitting in my wheelchair!!! Couldn't put a foot on the floor whilst wearing them but, boy, did it feel good!! I usually wear Hotter extra wide and find the velcro sandals comfy in the summer.
As for bags .....well, I'd better not even go there!! My latest acquisition is a Russell & Bromley reduced from £325 to 90 in the sale becauae of a very slight scuff mark on the inside of the zip! Bargain or what! We're on egg and chips for the rest of the month. Lots of love Jeanxxxxx

Oh Jean - how wonderful and decadent!!!! We must indulge ourselves in these creations to make up for feeling rough all the time. Jane - hope you're feeling brighter today - spend some time pampering yourself and then get dressed in your brightest outfit - even if you've nowhere special to go it'll help you feel fab!! Jackets are also a passion of mine - I'm aiming to get at least one in every colour of the rainbow - the only problem is that red is my favorite colour and I just can't resist a bargain - my latest is a very smart coral colour, so now of course I need shoes and a bag - ho hum........ Love Sylvia xx Be kinder than is necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

I've had some great bags from TK Max and because they are usually half original price or less, I don't feel as guilty!!
It's not easy to look glam when you are fast approaching 70 -- but I'm now at the "When I'm old I shall wear purple" stage and lovin it.
Wishing you luck with your jacket shopping, Sylvia - go for it!
Lyn (Wilson) has gone outfit shopping today for her lovely daughter Abbey's graduation. I did suggest lycra and a large hat but, for some reason, she wasn't too keen. xxxxx

I am quite surprised that the Government has not given out a health warning against shoes and bags. I don't drink. I don't smoke but oh I do like a good pair of shoes and a bag. I get the shakes and withdrawal symptoms if I do not partake of something at least every couple of months. My poor Husband hates that my mobility has slowed as I take even longer now to walk past the shoes and handbags I can feel some retail therapy coming on and now that I have a 16 year old Daughter I just have to force myself, you know how it is. Have a good weekend all Jackie x

Hello All
Yes I had the e mail about the Clarkes sale. I also succumbed and bought a sport type soft bottomed wide fit in black and silver to wear with black jeans. 40% off so again really pleased £34.99
Today went to one of our local Clarkes shope (live near Street where they originate from ) and purchased a wide fit purple ballet style shoe as well and they were £14.99. So really good

Jones the bootmaker have a big sale on too. Retail therapy is wonderful- yes, we do deserve it. My problem is I spend too much time mooching round shops then suffer for it afterwards. My big weakness at the moment is nail varnish- I'm now acquiring more than I can probably use. I'm also a big fan of TK maxx they do some good deals on multipacks of top range nail varnish- I got a pack of 4 Nails Inc ones for £14 they usually sell for £11 a bottle! Keep shopping
